2013 Mercedes A180 SE SE Review

Mercedes have now the already competitive and feisty battle with the addition of the new With its striking looks and range of engines, the new A-Class has got it takes to be one of the best.

The Mercedes-Benz SE is well-valued, well-equipped, base A-Class with enough to keep you entertained no matter the occasion.

So, is the new A-Class better the previous?

Well, we haven’t driven the previous A-Class but on looks alone the new one is much to look at.

The car isn’t difficult to the steering is sharp and responsive but very light allowing for an effortless drive at any speed.

visibility isn’t the greatest. are very limited viewpoints as the window is pretty tiny. The seat headrests certainly make things easier in of visibility as well. The wing do help incredibly as they’re big they give good as to what’s around. Also the shoulders and in the blindspots there much view and the pillar the front and rear windows was the view. Maybe the seat was too far or maybe just the compactness of the means they can’t too much with space and

The cockpit is just a little bit on the side but rear legroom and space in the back are enough for two and a little tyke in the middle.

around half an hour of the car was great. The handling, ride and work well in day-to-day (sitting in traffic) but they work well when the car moving, which it does you stamp the throttle. The car has great it’s an enjoyable car to drive and to just look at. Something this car separates it from average, bland run of the mill It’s got a good flavour it.

The new seven-speed dual clutch is very clever, whenever you to play with it and shift in manual on the touchtronic gearbox the responds very sharply. you’re done with you don’t even have to do as the gearbox will automatically go to full automatic under

The gearbox was fun to play with, as as the feeling of properly shifting manual gears, the touchtronic was quite encouraging in the sense to with a more sporty

Is that really a necessity?

What Mercedes have here is make driving and this feature helps you on the driving without having to around switching buttons automatic and semi-automatic and following the for doing so. Even though the clutch gearbox is an option, certainly one worth taking.

quality on the A180 is very bumps in the road are cushioned by the suspension and the car just glides the corners with minimal roll. Road noise much of a factor in the A180 SE and is a statement to the build quality of the new

The diesel engine is very the efficiency statistics are great and you drive the car you do get close to those mpg stats thanks to new engine and technology enhancing the fuel

When you get the A180 onto the road, you can really stretch the muscles and it has got a lot of them for what is the mid-range model of the new A-Class. is truly impressive is the level of for the BlueEfficiency model, which is more on diesel technology and fuel consumption.

Despite the diesel BlueEfficiency A180 SE the car shifts well and progresses the gears when you stamp on the Mercedes could have put some AMG sport badges on the car and it get away with it because a very dynamic car to drive.

The brakes are razor sharp is great when you need to be, but sometimes at slow speeds you apply the brakes they’re during around 20-30% of to the brakes and then all of a sudden 1% and it almost feels like doing an emergency stop.

But you’re done driving a racing driver, it’s as and effortless to drive as any other

The driving position in the A180 SE is you’re immediately put in great of the important interior instruments and not too much of a distraction from the The media system is great, the screen is a treat on the eyes and it been overcomplicated with a of options and settings for the car.

was a small hint of disappointment trying and failing to synchronise an 5 with the media Bluetooth to play music but maybe the software on the in-car system just needed an update and isn’t the case of incompatibility.

Equipment on this particular was spot on but only because a of options were fitted to the With the options fitted, the car had needed applied to be a quick, drive and also a durable, long distance drive. still the standard equipment on the SE is good and it’s great the in-car communications and entertainment is a standard option on the car as the tablet display is a treat on the eyes.

the A180 SE is a base model genuinely doesn’t feel a base model. It’s equipped with or even options; it has a great engine and incredibly well. Prices are similar to the diesel market new Audi A3 1.6 TDI which is around OTR before options and the BMW 116d SE is £22,055 OTR before options.

Which do you buy? On looks, a choice between the A3 and the A-Class. it’s anyone’s for the taking. On and dynamic ability, it’s the A-Class.
