MB are but the equipment is outstanding. The interior is superb. The Cell Phone arrangement only allows one to be connected at any time and does not over automatically if the other The Radio/CD Player is great and the Control is outstanding. Lots of area’s for small items and the trays at the bottom of the doors is for maps, baseball caps, etc.

Under the bonnet

3.5 out of 5 stars

Here is where MB let down. The power in the diesel is but another 10 — 20 horses the bonnet would have it a really great car. The is noisy when idling and under load, but once at you don’t hear it. Audi a beautiful 2,0L diesel why can’t MB come up with a engine for the B180. The engine is and over taking is easy, but extra bit of oomph would made it ohhhh so nice. economy on the other hand is and on the highways in Perth I registered 4,6 at 100Km/h on numerous occasions. A fully laden trip NSW to WA and back saw an average of 6 l/100Km for the Around my home town of — 5,1 to 5,6 l/100Km — 900 to 950Km between refills. A to Newcastle and back, with around town gives a of 4,9 L/100Km.

How it drives

Rating: 4.5 out of 5 stars

My and I undertook a 10,000Km trip to and back and did quite a bit of sight-seeing the way. Not once did either of us of any back pain or discomfort. A hour stint behind the felt like nothing. My previous car — a Toyota — the 2 hour stop come along fast The ride is excellent and the seats are so and have an infinite amount of available, so there is no excuse for not the right fit. Both my and I drove. Across the Nullarbor, the control held 120Km/h ease. The ride height is a bit low for NSW (which are absolutely atrocious a 4×4 is more suited to NSW but in SA and WA it is fine. The tyres are well to the car and road noise is very low at the speed of 100 — 110 Km/h. You don’t want the trip to My wife has claimed the car as hers.

Comfort and practicality

This is where the B class A car the size of a VW Golf that like a much larger More than ample feet and head space the front seats. Rear exceptionally comfortable. Rear have their own air vents and cup as well. Excellent view out the windows as well. The whole is just so airy and feels so The boot is ample, but one has to lower one of the rear seats to get a golf bag and in. With both seats you have more than of loading space and they flat — so it is possible to bunk down for the night. the front seats all the way forward and two can make themselves comfortable. But we Hotels. Space for the wheel First Aid Kit and other accessories is worked out. Space in the wheel well is kept useful for the storage of water and anything that you did not want to each night on a long Boot rubber mat is a must. So to clean.

Servicing and running

Rating: 3.5 out of 5 stars

Filling up Diesel doesn’t happen and the overall fuel economy the difference in the price of fuel. Why is so expensive in Australia is beyond me. in Third World Countries South Africa, diesel is by the government and far cheaper than Services are determined by your style, so I average about — 19,000Km between Services are expensive — know why it costs more to a MB’s oil as compared to a Suzuki. problem we encountered was a driver’s up-down program that its programming — fixed in a of minutes though. No charge. than that, the car runs a dream and only requires a to the petrol pump every 6 or so, if we only drive around The tyres are holding out well and we manage about 50,000 60,000 Km on the set. Still a new spare tyre in the wheel

Aesthetics styling

Rating: 4.5 out of 5

This is what caught our eye the car just appeals. We liked it before it was available in Australia. when it arrived for us initially. after picking up my wife’s Yaris from a service, as we out of the Toyota service office, was this white MB B180 in the showroom across the road. We across the road and it had the cream with the wood inserts. what we wanted. A quick test drive and we traded the in on the B180. It only had 4,000Km on the and did not have a chip or scratch on it. I the styling of our B180 is much than the new one. The new one looks too up — not as airy as the older The rubber mats inside are well to fill in all the feet and also look good. really protect the cream — can’t live them. Cleaning is so easy as I love a clean car and when it is to clean, all the better. No nooks and to access.

Safety and security

Rating: 4.5 out of 5

We feel so safe in our MB. It has all the airbags one all the safety features to avoid as well as reversing alarms and up front to warn when you are too to objects. The car feels good on the and when making a sudden change to avoid something, she responds and you never feel you have to react to the car getting out of — she helps correct errors. Brakes are great. been broken into touch wood. Enough and a box under the passenger seat for Cubby hole is large and well lit for any valuables.

Quality and reliability

Rating: 3.5 out of 5

The car as a whole is EXCELLENT. I have rated it lower because of the of the paint work inside the compartment. When I tried to some grime (with an tar and bug remover product from a retailer) that had built up in the work joints, the paint came off and I had to buy a can of under coat and spray paint to repair it. The MB when I mentioned it to them, or less blamed me for using an product, even though I use it on my 10 1/2 old Suzuki and have never had the come off. But you can see that the compartment has only had a very coat of paint and not even an coat. The car now has just over and apart from the paint everything else appears to be to last a long time. No yet.

Overall verdict

4.5 out of 5 stars

Engine power a bit the high revving engine on away and the low quality paint in the engine compartment are my only The CVT gearbox works well the engine and once at speed, you forget about the pull because the car handles so beautifully. of occupant and storage space nice and easy to park in cramped up hotel parking and getting there is such a Our next car will definitely be a MB most probably the M class, my wife drove the E250 down hood on the MB All Stars Day and did not to give it back to the dealer so we will have to see. MB looks after their and we get along well with the and staff at our local MB show and service centre. Would recommend a MB to anyone. The All Stars Day is a must to attend. Great fun just what our MB B180 CDi
