I just purchased a CLK 500 COUPE SIX DAYS AGO. after picking up my son from 24 hours ago I noticed a COOLANT/SERVICE on the dash. Mind you now,’ car is BRAND NEW, I just it home just the other So I drove it home which is a mile and a half down the to my house. As I roled down the to speak to my neighbors when I my block, I noticed a loud coming from the front of the It sounded like it was overheating, I was to explode. Anyway I shamefully the Service department where I it from, and got the routine garbage of roadside assistance for help. you, the car has 200 miles on it. To make a story short, my mew car was towed that night on a flat bed from my driveway. Of course I was a car to drive until the repairs on my NEW CAR were completed. I’m now that the control mod and the wiring was defective and it needs an up-todate Hum, It’s a fricken and this is not up todate enough, is a bad start. Anyway this ofcourse take 3-4 days for the to be received by the dealership.To make worse, today was the day that all of the bells that were less then 6 days ago suppose to be installed, but that happen due to the current problem the car. Now, I’ve a day of work for nothing and the service expects me to loose another for the of a new date, NOT. THIS I WILL MAKE, IF THE DEALER THIS PROBLEM WITH THE OPTION, A NEW CAR, HECK WHAT I’M PAYING I WILL INTURN PASS ON INFO NOT ONLY TO YOU GUYS BUT TO THE TV AS WELL. WISH ME LUCK.

I had the exact experience as Antonio with my CLK500. I didn’t even 2000kms on it and the radiator got stuck in super high speed sounded like the engine was to explode. This is completely being stuck in trafic a brand new car that sounds a jet engine. This is not the type of turning I was expecting with car.

Anyway the service did not have the control card to fix the problem and had to order it. Once the arrived they were to correctly configure the card and had to with Germany twice via fax to get a handle on the problem.

All and all it took 3 hours to diagnose the problem, two to receive the part and another 6 to troubleshoot the solution.

While all of inconvenience is covered by warranty, I am not forward to dealing with the department later when it be me paying for their incompetence.


I purchased a 2002 last year from ray The car has basically been a curse. Just read MBZ’s quality problems in the Fortune Magazine, where listed this website. reading a number of threads, I that I have had the same with my 2001 CLK 320,

1- WIndows: They really going up and down when get hot. And, they will close and then up a bit (I found out how to correct this but it is annoying).

2- When the car is cold, a groan in turning the steering left.

3- The dash developed an squeak. I told the dealer it was I was driving a Chrysler CLK 320. three visits to the shop, finally fixed it.

4- The tires out after only 15,000 Seemed low to me.

5- I also have had the with the gas tank air release the gas pump to turn off too soon.

6- adjusted to having the sunroof when I open it.

I purchased my in 1999 a CLK 320 the first month of the car i had issues with the car and I would it in to the dealer and they would say can not find a problem. It was a problem the transmission which they two years later after the became worse it would forward at any given time so often when i was slowing The fog lights would blow other month they had to the whole fog light assembly. Now the lights in the back are blowing 2 months and its 50 bucks every to be fixed by mercedes benz. In i had a seal break and leak fluid, i had the harmonic balance on 10/6/04 as well but they that for free b/c of a lawsuit on but I took it to the dealer in another not the new york dealer they are there. I use to take my car to the dealer all the to be fixed in New York- Helms I do not recommend them at all. I am told my seat controller to be changed. I have no warrnaty on the car b/c when i was moving Mercedes told me I could purchase the when i move to the new state but i know after the warranty even two weeks i couldn’t the extended warranty. It has been 5 I had my car it has just about 40,000 but I had all these issues. If I would known I could have the car I would have a month There is a vibration on the car for 4 years now no one can what it is they say engine but that wasn’t it. I have to with everyone’s comments. spending over $70K on a car (2001 CLK 430 Cab) you would that the majority of the problems in prior submissions are accurrate and we now why the model was redesigned so quickly. I bought a 98 clk 320 AG auto sales in Virginia VA. It has been an ongoing problem. In one after purchasing the car the CD changer not work, The electrical problems stop. The windows open on their own when the car is locked, the air system had a leak, a sensor has defective, and i have a defective key doesn’t respond to the receiver the car. I’m sure the will go on. Don’t buy a Mercedes.


I just purchased a in March of 2003 (only miles). So far, I have had a few but one has plagued me:

1. Gastank air release valve not Every time you try and fill the the pump would pop the handle. first time, but took 10 for parts.

2. Driver seat stopped working. Told it was but 3 days later it broke They just replaced the They replaced the motor, BUT now the seat makes a snapping when I sit in it.

3. Complained that the was much louder than I specifically a clicking sound. told me that they the rocker arms. Two weeks one of the rocker arms collapsed so I had to it in again. The car STILL makes the sound. While in the service another 2001 CLK 430 came in. I the driver if I could listen to her and it was very quiet, unlike I brought it to the service manager’s but he pretty much blew me off and they would look it (which they did not do).

4. I noticed that when I up the car, it sometimes hesitates I accelerate. Nothing major, but Have not had a chance to get that one yet.

I problems ranging from not rolling up, malfuntions of window anti tracion device at will, broken seat a/c not working, a/c blows hot air on one side, in the rear of car, leak in the abnormal wear of tires, and more. I own a 2002 CLK 320 which I purchased new in Toronto. My CLK has 19,000 miles on it. I drive it to every day and take a few trips in the but generally baby the car. I having premonitions about the quality of my car shortly after it was to me. To me this car simply did not feel a Mercedes (this is my second new Little thing began up -a chrome strip seperated the car — creaks and groans appearing — the outside air indicator read too high the rubber gromet around the key mechanism deformed — the console squeaked.

I took my car in to the for its first service B at 19,000 and complained about the above My premonitions appeared to have correct — at 19,000 the dealer informed me that had to do the following warranty work on the (a) replace both lower joint assemblies; (b) replace the rotors which could not be (c) replace or repair a heat near the catylitic converter it was rattling; (d) repair the center locking mechanism; (e) replace the gromet on the truck key latch and so on. I was frankly shocked as to the extent of the repairs required because: (A) IS A MERCEDES AFTER ALL; AND (B) CLK CONVERTICLE HAS LESS THAN MILES ON IT. To to make matters when I left the dealership on my way I discovered something — the creaking/groaning sound coming the front end that I complained of was there. I marched the car back and to the service advisor who told me it was for the car to have such a noise the dealership’s road tester had off on a detailed road test of the car and no problem. I insisted that the advisor jump in for a ride I found some rough — and you guessed it — the advisor not only heard the noise coming from the end but said that he had never such a noise before. He (it was just a guess) it might be the car’s suspension — a spring or something. Anyway after my car being in the dealership for two days I have to bring it again and will probably it for another 2 days. The dealership hard but seems to be fighting a battle over quality my car.

I purchased a 2003 CLK 500 in December of The car has performed well. However, a recent trip to my dealership it is not so well. After 10,000 of average city driving in Florida the rear tire was almost completely gone. it was at least 2-3000 miles Anyhow, I replace the rear When I got the car back the front started squeaking. I have the car to 13,000 miles thinking it go away and maybe it was just It has gotten so bad that when I up to a light I can see the person in front of me around because they are where all this noise is from. The dealer told me the brakes are glazed and that cannot fix this problem warranty. The upsetting part is for a $60,000 car you would think the would not squeak like a NYC cab. And if for some reason was not normal Mercedes would up to the plate and correct the problem. The pads as you would suspect are no near needing replacement.

I am regarding a not so pleasant experience I had one of your Service Center’s in City, Georgia.

On Monday, 1, 2003 I had my CLK 320 towed to Carriage Service Center in Union Georgia because I experienced with the gift shear. I start the car but, was unable to the gear from park. it appeared to be locked.

On Tuesday, September 2, 2003, I a call from Steve the reason why I could not shift my car gear. He advised me that liquid had been spilled in the shift area which the computer module. And, the total cost to repair my car be $840.00 (including $ 109.00 tow

We a 2005 Mercedes CLK 500 convertible. car was in excess of 67,000 dollars. Who have guessed that the gas did’nt work, or receive poor quality control or during the time that owned this car! owned a handful of Mercs: 500sl, 240d, 300td, and a of BMW’s: a 733i and a X3. Hindsight’s I won’t buy another mercedes, the stratospheric price, ground service and quality. I haven’t had any with either BMW, and the warrenty service is exemplary. keep the mercedes till 2008, and purchase an M3 Convertible was almost 14,000 cheaper!).
