Mercedes C 180 CGI BlueEFFICIENCY Review Road Test (2010)

15, 2010 By Cars UK

The Mercedes CGI BlueEFFICIENCY in for a week for Review Test

We spend a week the Mercedes C 180 CGI BlueEFFICIENCY Executive SE to Review and Road Test. Is a Mercedes C Class any good, or an ego car?

There was a time you knew what lurked the bonnet of a Mercedes; the badge on the shouted it loud and clear. If it was an you knew it had a 5.0 litre engine and if it C180 you could safely you’d get a modest 1.8 litre to row Mercedes’ smallest saloon

But things have got a bit more over the years; probably the cubic capacity of the engine is not an indication of its power. After it could be diesel or petrol – aspirated or not – and, as this is a supercharger or turbo.

So the badge on the is an indication of where the particular you’re driving sits in the order. More or less. week’s Mercedes C180 CGI us that our car lurks somewhere the bottom of the Mercedes C Class But you’d be hard pushed to it without the badge.

This particular C180 is the CGI BlueEFFICIENCY Executive SE, a moniker which has sensibly decided not to splat all over the In fact on our test car the only are a small ‘BlueEFFICIENCY’ on the side with the new ‘Sport’ grill on car with it’s big three start grill (reminiscent of the on the old W126 SEC or W107), it looks far upmarket.

I did think it might be my eyes that made C Class look upmarket. all, I’m old enough to have a 560 SEC when it first hit the roads thirty years ago. But no, the in the office – where ages from a (not much than a child) 22 to (a sadly child-like) 53 – is that this C looks far more upmarket we expected.

“…the consensus in the office – ages range from a much more than a 22 to (a sadly equally child-like) 53 – is this C Class looks far upmarket than we expected.”

In the general consensus is that for the time in this latest C Mercedes has managed to pull off the they’ve really been to do since the 190 hit the roads in the early namely to create a car that can be considered a small S Class.

It has always seemed as if Mercedes has playing catch-up with 3 Series. Never quite the always the bridesmaid to the more more youthful, more aggressive 3 But it now looks as if Mercedes finally has the of the 3 Series.

The C180 feels proof. It’s not just a looking car, it’s well bolted together In every way it feels like a S Class. Quality materials and in this SE Executive spec started life last as a Limited Edition, but now seems to found its way in to the model range) you get a lot for your money – certainly by standards.

There’s a full-fat version of the COMAND with HDD Nav, and a music box; a very system. You also get a set of 16″ alloys, of chrome and the aforementioned Sport But that’s on top of the more than entry spec SE which you goodies such as half seats, Climate and auto

So the Mercedes C180 CGI looks is well built and well But it can’t hold a candle to the of the 3 Series. Can it?
