So does that mean the CLA is a brilliant masterstroke or a potential misjudged dead end. We a day with a few of them at the local and still aren’t really but it is good though!

What is it?

Next up – in of price, if not arrival date – is the CLA 250 Gaining a 155kW/350Nm four-cylinder injection turbo 2.0-litre the CLA 250 Sport clocks in at $77,900 and gets the excellent 7-speed DCT

On top of the CLA 200 spec, the CLA 250 Sport gets a style of 18-inch wheel, an AMG kit, red painted brake darker tints from the back, lowered sports adaptive bi-xenon headlights, interior trim, electrically heated leather front red seat belts and a sports wheel.

Then comes the mental CLA 45 AMG.

Packing the 265kW/450Nm turbo 2.0-litre engine as the just-released A 45 AMG hatch, the CLA 45 AMG is hooked up to an AMG-tweaked version of the DCT trans and Mercedes’ 4matic 4WD in order to channel all that power onto the road.

The AMG CLA gets 19-inch AMG alloy an AMG performance braking system, a exhaust, sports suspension, the navigation system with a screen, an AMG instrument cluster Racetimer, AMG leather sports and a Harmon Kardon surround audio system.

The CLA 45 AMG will $107,900 when it lands month.

What’s it like?

for a RWD BMW 3 Series competitor, the CLA 200 is remarkably a small FWD hatch to drive. of like the A-Class, really.

Everything is good about the A-Class, It is nimble and sharp, with an engine and a great chassis. The is nicely laid out and interesting to at, while the seats are wonderfully and comfortable.

What’s not so good?

The two we drove had several rattles in the trim, while the ride noticeably firmer than the both in the normal and sports set up cars. The navigation hilariously almost everything and some of the CLS cues look a bit odd and misplaced on the car.

First impressions?

If you ignore insistence that the CLA is an alternative to a and approach it like a sleeker, less practical version of the it actually comes out of it better

It possesses all the A-Class’ many, good points, with little in the way of downsides, apart the fact it costs more.

compared to the likes of a C-Class or 3 it doesn’t do quite so well, It really does feel a small hatch trying to with its bigger RWD brothers, slightly lesser build and distinctly FWD handling characteristics.

Forget what MBNZ and treat the CLA like a sleeker of the A-Class and it is brilliant. For someone to downsize (and downcost, if is a word…) from a C-Class, but bring themselves to go into a the CLA is the perfect alternative.
