First Trip, First

By: Ron

The Goal: Reach, record GPS of, and photograph the remaining wreckage of an Super Sabre fighter jet near Mt. Cirrus in the Never range of mountains in N. Colo.

The Site: On 30 Jan. 1967, 2nd Lt. C. Hart was lost while on a training mission. The accident described Lt. Hart as having into cloud and losing while executing a barrel around the lead aircraft to off overtake velocity. He did not eject and the was not found for months.

Civil Air listed the wreck at one location, Boyd, whose report the Never Summers appears in the Mtn Nat’l Park webpage, a slightly different location he didn’t know at the time he was looking at.

My researcher/historian friends in Estes had a site report from a who had visited the site in 1967.

The Make a 2 day backpack trip out of it my buddy Thomas.

Preliminaries: couldn’t go. So I packed for a solo (meaning that I added the of my 2m ham radio and a revolver and carried my tent).
