Diecast cars – Something something new, something something wonderful

phoenix | 18th, 2011

I wasn’t a diecast model car collector, but since I bought those Boxster models, I started to buy 1:18 scale model So here’s some of the new additions.

let me start with something This is a 1936 Mercedes 500K Roadster diecast made by Bburago. I like old cars because I like the curved designs these car These days most of the are very angular and very while in the old days cards are more organic with curves.

I find that cars, partly because of all the (wind tunnel and whatnot) and because of the need to reduce to produce cars, rarely any really rounded or curved And I really love these components like these wheel fenders that’s in these Mercedes from the I think they make the car sexy. And I love these rounded head lamps, I too many new cars like narrow head lamps. I on the hand love big, head lamps.

Okay so that’s the something old Now for something terrible part. I played with other model cars before and I thought while they are not quality they are okay for cars. What I didn’t is that Bburago has two 1:18 collections. The ones I have before are from their Collection”. While this 500K is from their Collection”. And it seems these Collection cars are simply worst than those in the Collection.

For starter, despite labeled as die-cast model this one actually uses little metal. Most of the including the fender, are made of Now I don’t have anything plastics in model cars, that these plastic are badly manufactured. You can see how rough the parts are, some you can see injection molding tabs, and parts are not well fitted. The job on them is horrible too, you can see strokes on the chrome parts.

Well at least I was able to the engine bay cover and swing the open without destroying the

Now for the backseats which is normally behind a door behind the seats and can be accesses by flipping door open. The parts for area of this model fit well at all. It is extremely to open the door requiring me to pry it open with something. And I opened it, it won’t close without using a lot of force to it back into the open seems to be not sized correctly or correctly. I opened the rear doors just this just to take this below.

More horrible parts, the edge is not sanded and so you can see the rough on the edge. And even from far, you can tell how bad the instrument looks. Not realistic at all. Now I do this car, Mercedes 500K Roadster, but Bburago failed to deliver it to my fantasy

Now for something new – this car below is the CCX. This one is made by I admires Koenigsegg as a company this little Swedish company started in 1994; no prior racing pedigree; a single man – Christian von Koenigsegg’s with the passion of their team to design and make one of the supercars in the world; and took at as 8 years to released their supercar – Koenigsegg CC8S in Now that is one amazing feat I don’t see from other makers.

The AUTOart’s box really couldn’t been more plain. no image on the box, just the logo and the car model name. the box, it includes a little on Koenigsegg. This Koenigsegg CCX or “Competition Coupé X” was released in just 4 years after first car CC8S was released. many other supercar / maker, that will engine from one manufacturer and components from another Koenigsegg designed just all the parts of their car, included.

It also includes numbered certificate of authenticity.

The box actually a blessing in disguise. what’ inside is truly a of art. The heavy weight of the car how much the car is made of die-cast rather than plastics. The are all well fitted. Opening and something takes nearly no The paint job is superb. It even a microfiber cloth to clean off finger prints that you left on the smooth paint Now this is something wonderful.

The front of the car opens just the real car with metal “lifting” the hood. And just in the real car, the car’s roof can be stored right in a in the front trunk.

Here’s the CCX its targa top installed. And yes unlike the car, the parts here all well.

Here’s a view the rear of the CCX.

The engine bay also “lifts” open metal struts showing you a detailed engine bay.

If you at the full size picture, you can see the carbon fiber weaves is

And of course the Koenigsegg’s signature synchro-helix actuation doors rotates forward and moves is also replicated accurately.

And this cockpit is very made. Weaves of carbon gauge clusters and the center It even has the seat belt reproduced.

Interestingly, this car an open top model, can fit my nendoroids in just fine. So the Kuroshitsuji Sebastian and his master Ciel Phantomhive to drop in for a test drive. Sebastian can’t seem to fit his tea set in the trunk and that really Ciel angry…
