Question

QUESTION: the car was idling high (over 15 and then I changed the air slider. For a or two, it was perfect. Then were problems with the wires and the car started to idle low 5 rpm) and hesitated. I replaced all air and hoses. I don’t know could be wrong with it? I ordered a Mercedes R107/W126 control unit. Do you think could help? Any input on how I fix this problem would be Thanks!

ANSWER: I assume is a cold engine issue, the following

Idle Bad with Cold

1. Leaks in air intake system:

all air intake and vacuum connections. Any old must be replaced.


Be sure to the intake boots around the runners. Check all hose

2. Air Valve does not open:

the hose connections to the valve. If check good remove the and

check for leaks by closing off one end and a small amount of suction to the

other end, if air can be drawn the valve, with the other end off,

replace the valve.

3. Start Valve leaking:

the cold start valve, in front of the intake. Leave the line connected,

5. Injector Leaking:

The opening could be to low, opening should be around 2.5-3.6 bar

jump the terminal numbers 30 and 87a. fuel will flow the injectors

Remove the air cleaner and move the plate up and down, do not the plate.

Sorry I was not enough. This problem when the engine is warm and I put it in It goes from 6 or 7 rpm to under 5 The hoses and the accellerator air valve has replaced. Also, there is a noise on the low drivers side Can you help? Any other ideas? imput so far has been great.

OK — first make all adjustments are to spec — gap, point gap,

then to set idle

adjust of aairflow sensor plate it sould restjust below teh edge of the airflow sensor

Center the air flow sensor

Adjust minimum air — engine then shut inspect AAV to make sure it has completely

restart engine close the idle air pass and throttle stop screw so the barely idles — 450-500 RPM then use the manual on the idle air pass to set curb at 950rpm

setting CO is next if you dont have a meter its a guess, buit remember SMALL adjustments make a big

humming is probalby fuel — which is OK
