Porsche 964 Turbo

Porsche the 964 Turbo model in March, as the successor to the 930. Unfortunately, hadn’t had the necessary time to a turbocharged version of the 3.6 litre M64 and chose to re-use the 3.3 litre from the 930, with minor revisions that the engine smoother, less to turbo lag and more powerful, a total output of 320 PS (240 kW; 320 hp) @ rpm. A total of 3,660 of the 964 were built.

In 1992 the 3.3 Turbo S was introduced. Porsche released the 964 Turbo 3.6 in 1993,[3] now featuring a turbocharged of the 3.6 litre M64 engine and producing 360 PS kW; 360 hp) @ 5500 rpm, the 3.6 litre Turbo was produced only for year 1993/1994, with than 1,500 of them in total, making it one of the rarest and sought after Porsches since the 959 .

At the end of 964 production in 1994 the factory had some 90 Turbo left. These were all to Porsche Exclusiv and built as the special Turbo 3.6S. The 3.6S was available either the traditional 964 Turbo 3.6 body, or the exclusive Slant nose

Turbo S

In 1993, Porsche developed a tuned 964 Turbo S prototype for use in motorsport. The car, known as the S Le Mans GT (or simply Turbo S ), was based on the standard road-legal S, but stripped down and modified for use. A deep chin was added to the front, while two air were added just the rear wheel fenders. An racing rear wing was on top of the standard Turbo’s wing. fenders were used to 12-inch (300 mm) wide slicks. The interior was completely a rollcage added, and the windows with plastic. The engine was not the standard road-car unit, but a twin-turbocharged 3.2 liter unit produced 475 hp .[4]

The Turbo S LM-GT made its at the 1993 12 Hours of Sebring the car finished seventh overall and in its class with the Brumos racing team. From the car was entered in the 24 Hours of Le Mans. under the guise of the Porsche team. The car would however to finish after the engine was early in the race. The development work from the S LM-GT helped Porsche in the 993 -generation 911 GT2 in 1995, which be mass produced and sold to customers. Some teams, to buy new 911 GT2s, developed their own racing versions of the 964 Turbo to the Turbo S LM-GT, but lacked the of the factory project.
