Just from a testdrive of the base SL: the V6 It uses the engine found in like our E320, except it is bored out to 3.7-l and horsepower up to 245-hp, torque from 315 Nm lb/ft) to 350 Nm (258 lb/ft). claims a 7.2 0-62 mph time for the I was expecting this car to be “adequate” in of performance but surprisingly, it offers more than adequate Performance won’t touch an but it sure isn’t a slacker the SL280 and SL320 / 320SL’s of the generation R129 SL’s.

so I go up to the local dealership to specifically the V6 SL for a testdrive. I’ve already the SL500 and guess what? It was the fun car I have ever driven. The E55 SLK32 AMG etc. couldn’t the SL500 in terms of fun factor The R230 SL drives like a I also came to this after the SL350 testdrive.

The exterior color was Anthrazit and the interior made use of lighter colors. Overall, a nice though I would prefer or white or red as an exterior color. the interior color combination There’s lot’s of space in the SL unlike my dad’s R129 which is cramped. It’s the same deal as the SL500, the engine under the hood is Interior materials were good but the SL has gotten perhaps a outdated on the inside material I am sure the facelift will that issue.

I started the V6 engine. Surprisingly, it comes to with a nice growl from our E320 (remember, engine just bored and quickly becomes silent. I already tell the engine was the same as our E320′s from the way it now and later during the drive. The I put the transmission into “D” and step on the accelerator, the car quickly jumps Whoa…either the engine is pretty or the accelerator is! Either way, I this baby out of the dealer lot and to cruise around for a while to up the 245-horses under the hood.

First impressions. The steering was light and gave the impression it was vague, yet it responded quickly to input and made the big SL handle nicely. I had no trouble taking the car the “racetrack style” country here where handling is a if you drive especially sporty and Handling felt safe and at all times. There was a little roll but it didn’t bother me I actually felt the heavy of the SL is a plus for keeping the car onroad. The was a fusion between softness and more the former. It was easy to that the suspension was tuned for it still did a good job of providing the and so much more for sporty At the end of the day however, this changes from the fact that all are cruisers at heart. SL350 up to AMG, they’re all biased relaxed driving IMO. I can the suspension, handling and steering all in one word: smooth.

By now, the SL350 was properly up and I was ready to test her. I let the car out to around 30 km/h on a straight then proceed to mash the The engine response was quite but it wasn’t brutal. The speedometer progressively upwards at respectable not a fast car, but quick. was enough to push you into the but again, nothing brutal. I liked about the engine was the character: it sounded aggressive and with a tenacious roar it emitted everytime you floored it. power was very good and the pulled stronger here initial 0-60 acceleration. I that in city driving, the was a little “slow” from km/h when you did nothing but the pedal, but after that, was more lively and it performed even after 120 km/h (75 I took the car on the local B12 Bundestrasse you can drive a maximum of 62 mph (100 so I had some fun with the SL350 It really isn’t a slouch or as as it looks on paper.

I took the car into town (roof down). It was a nice and day so all the local Mhldorf chicks out in the cafes etc. Perfect to grab some attention. It so nice driving this SL the Stadtplatz at the speed limit of 20 knowing all these girls are at either you or the car! Man, must have thought I was a starting out! I picked up my dad and let him a go and he was really impressed with the car that the power wasn’t bad at

Here’s the bad news: the price tag on fairly well equipped was  89,900! I could pay less and get an for that money! The SL350 to me that it’s a pretty fun and car. You don’t need an if cruising is your thing. however, I believe that a V8 is in this class and would go for the SL500. But I’d be more than with the SL350 as it is a pretty fun car in its own way and exactly slow. I enjoyed the a lot. The SL350, like the was smooth and fun. This may silly, but the SL500 was the most fun car I ever driven: in 2nd place, put the SL350. There’s just about the way an R230 SL drives makes it so fun IMO. Hope you my review!
