OVERVIEW
Benz’s two-pronged answer to saving the environment
Long has the argument reigned, which is the better alternative? Diesel, or hybrid?

You are looking at the rarest AMG Production vehicle on the planet. This 2012 Mercedes Benz E63 AMG Estate Wagon is not something that you see every day, month, or even year. According to Motor Trend Magazine, Name the rarest model Mercedes-Benz sells. I’m thinking most of you hotshots will have answered SLS AMG Gullwing. Nope. A few of you might think it’s one of the V-12-powered CL coupes, as Mercedes-Benz makes two, the CL600 and CL65 AMG. You’d be wrong. What about that new Black Series Coupe? Mercedes-Benz E-Class 250 Sport estate will fit like an old shoe
The other day I was peering through the window of one of those posh shoe shops in London that has lots of royal crests and doesn’t have a website on which you can order its products.
Not just because Jeeves-like shop assistants aren’t familiar with the internet but because its shoes are too valuable to send through the post.
It’s the sort of place where toffs bought a pair of shoes when they joined the Army and because they were so well-made didn’t have to replace them for the rest of their lives. Exactly like this Mercedes-Benz.
At £36,415 the E-Class E250 Sport estate isn’t exactly cheap. And ...

Mercedes is back on its throne as the builder of the best executive estate with its new E-Class, which offers massive amounts of room with impressive refinement and quality
In the Metal
It doesn’t take a huge leap of imagination to work out what the E-Class Estate looks like: it’s an E-Class saloon with a large box — albeit a finely crafted large box — grafted on to the rear quarters. The front end is identical to the saloon’s, while the rear doors are reshaped to blend in with the raised and extended roofline. At the back, large side windows help with excellent visibility, while the tailgate ...

Whether you have a large family or regularly need to carry more than four other passengers, you’ll need a seven seat car. You can easily convince yourself a station wagon or an SUV will make your life better, that they’re necessities for a modern family. But no one needs a car like that with 500 hp. You certainly don’t need one with 500 hp and track-ready suspension. Of course, no one needs dessert, either. But it makes life better. And we really, really like high-powered versions of otherwise useful things.
In the interest of science, we laid out this delicious spread at Michigan’s GingerMan Raceway on a cold Monday morning. Here we have a Mercedes and a Porsche, different shapes with similar blueprints: take pedestrian cargo hauler, ...
