Manchester City ready to beat Real Madrid to the signing of Liverpool right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Alexander-Arnold’s contract with Liverpool expires at the end of the season and it is unclear whether he will stay or leave the club as a free agent next summer.

Spanish outlet Ufabet reports that Real Madrid are keen on signing the talented right-back and could make an approach as early as January, given the recent news that left-back Dani Carvajal is out for months with a knee injury.

The same outlet also reported that Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City are another team keeping a close eye on Alexander-Arnold’s situation as they look for a replacement for 34-year-old captain Kyle Walker.

Despite being direct title rivals, a move to Man City is an interesting option for the 26-year-old as he will continue to play in England and be in a top-tier competition where he can continue to win.

Alexander-Arnold has been in fine form for Promotion ufabet the Reds this season under manager Arne Slots, starting all seven of the club’s first league games as they secured top spot and conceded just two goals.

For Madrid, Alexander-Arnold ticks every box. He’s still only 26; he’s a proven performer at the elite level, having been in Liverpool’s team for eight years and won a Premier League and Champions League title; and, most importantly, he’s coming to the end of his contract. A free agent at the end of the 2024/25 campaign, the Liverpool youth product has stalled on signing a new Anfield deal as he looks to keep his options open. Against this backdrop, Madrid are keeping very close tabs on Alexander-Arnold’s situation.
