Luis Enrique Martinez has said that Xavi Hernandez’s Barcelona are not the team that dominates possession in the Catalan giants’ style.
Paris Saint-Germain coach Luis Enrique Martinez has spoken candidly about Xavi Hernandez’s Barcelona, saying the problems with the Blaugrana were a lack of possession.
Ahead of last season’s Champions League quarter-final clash, one of Luis Enrique’s assistants pointed out Barcelona’s defensive faults, with the PSG boss taking the opportunity to criticise Xavi’s side.
‘The key to this game is the team that can control the ball,’ said Luis Enrique. ‘Barcelona are not guarantee in Xavi’s second season. This team is not the one that can control the ball or the one that can control it continuously.’

Luis Enrique, 54, played alongside Xavi, 44, at Barcelona for six seasons. Later, he coached Xavi during the 2014-2015 season, which culminated in Barcelona’s last Champions League title. They also shared time together on the Spanish national team from 2000 to 2002.
