Jose Luis Gaya has returned to training for the first time in five months since undergoing surgery on his knee injury in May.

UFABET reported on Monday good news for Valencia as 29-year-old left-back and captain Jose Luis Gaya returned to training for the first time in five months following a hamstring injury, according to Marca.

Gaya suffered a serious hamstring injury just 11 minutes into a game against Girona in May, with the 29-year-old left-back undergoing surgery and facing lengthy spells on the sidelines.

Gaya was reportedly cleared to return to training on Monday, with the 29-year-old left-back set to meet with Finnish surgeon Lasse Lempainen, who operated on him, to see if he could return straight away.

Gaya’s recovery from injury is good news for coach Ruben Baraja after the Valencia suffered a poor start to the season and also lost another option at left-back, Jesus Vazquez, to injury.

According to Ufabet, Gaya could receive the medical green light next Monday. On that day, he will meet with Lasse Lempainen, the man that did his surgery, and he will determine whether he is able to make a comeback with immediate effect.

Valencia will be desperate for Gaya’s return, especially as they do not have a natural left-back at the moment because of Jesus Vazquez’s recent injury. He has been training with his teammates over the last couple of weeks. So he should be closing in on full fitness.
